A few additional notes:

  1. Our submission fees are intended solely to keep our publication viable, so that we can better help writers and artists show their work. We take great care to present the work of our contributors in the most engaging way possible, and this takes a lot of time and dedication. The income from submission fees is used to cover expenses and to re-invest in expanding the reach of WRJ. In addition, we offer occasional free submission periods through Submittable. If you really want to submit and are not able to offer the fee, we can accommodate. Please send a message to the email above.
  2. Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but please withdraw pieces from consideration if they are accepted elsewhere. If you have a previously published piece that you feel deserves our attention (and you have retained the rights), please acknowledge the previous publication.
  3. If your work is accepted, you agree to give Wild Roof Journal online publishing and archival rights; following publication, all rights revert back to the author/artist. We ask that you credit Wild Roof Journal if the work is published elsewhere in the future.

The community engagement with Wild Roof is so different from other journals. It feels like a real active family, rather than separate categories–writer, publisher, reader. It’s all one flowing organism!

Live Review & Feedback Sessions

If you would like our editors’ feedback on your writing, we offer live consultations via Zoom. Please e-mail aaron@wildroofjournal.com, and we can discuss the details of your work and your goals for developing it further.

Do you need a fresh set of eyes?

Ideas for a new direction?

A creative spark?

Tips for getting published?

Fine-tuning before sending your piece out for consideration?

We’re here to help! We don’t intend to alter your creative vision with our commentary; rather, we’d like to offer the perspective of people who have seen a lot of poetry, fiction, and non-fiction in all stages of development. While we try to include some objective pointers as well as a few suggestions to try to help develop what you already have created, the fact remains that you’re the writer and part of the beauty of that fact is that you get to decide how you want to do it.

Since everyone’s creative journey is unique, and everyone’s goals are different, it’s important to us to get a sense of how you want your writing to develop. If a live session sounds appealing to you, send us an e-mail to tell us a little bit about yourself, and let’s get to work!

Rates start at $50 for a 1 hour session (up to 5 pages of poetry/prose); includes a text copy of the review.

Payment will be made via PayPal.
