Welcome to the tenth issue of Wild Roof Journal…
Welcome to another edition of Wild Roof Journal! I am excited to share a new collection of visual and literary art with you.
A huge thanks goes to Chris Norcross, who provided the main cover image, a perfect fit for the seasonal shift that comes later this month. Even though the equinox is a few weeks away at the time of this issue’s release, this image really encapsulates the emotional impact of this time of year. The calm of a September dusk, the shadows creeping closer, the stray Styrofoam noodle adrift on the glassy water….
But not to get too far ahead of things. Get out and splash around while you still can—this issue will be here when you dry off!

Back to the matter at hand: I’m glad to have you with us for the tenth issue. In addition to the selections that made the cut this time around, there are a few noteworthy additions to the website since last issue. We have a great roundtable discussion, which covers three excellent poems from the July issue, and there are a few video recordings of our discussion posted as well. You can check out videos of us talking about Rebecca Faulkner’s poem “Bees” and Rachel Glass’s “Glass.” There is even an “after party” recording from when we kept rolling after covering the selected poems. As we mention in the discussion, having a community of like-minded creative people can be hard to come by at times, so all four of us had fun moving into a looser conversation. Thanks again to Nicole and Eva for joining me and Chris and sharing their thoughts!

Galleries
This issue is arranged into three “galleries,” a concept we’ve borrowed from the art world. Each gallery has a selection of various artwork–both visual and textual. There are some intentional connections between pieces placed next to each other–maybe some unintentional connections as well–and perhaps some points of contrast. Just like a collection in an art gallery, different styles, techniques, and subject matters are brought together, while still keeping enough space around each piece so that each one can be enjoyed fully on its own.
